Big Barns Cottage is ideally located for those wanting to discover the delights of East Sutherland. Just a mile from the North Coast 500 route, our Arts and Crafts cottage provides you with generous accommodation, furnished to suit the period.

An ideal base for those wanting to explore the area, or those wanting to spend time simply relaxing in our 2 acres of grounds overlooking the sea, Big Barns Cottage offers all you could hope for.

Your welcome pack includes a few essential items to help you settle in - including some of Peter's delicious home baking! We are about ten minutes drive from the nearest shop and you might want to consider stocking up before you arrive.

Inside the cottage, you will find a supply of logs and kindling to use in your log burner. The cottage has full central heating and a modern downstairs shower room - as well as a fully equipped kitchen. The comfortable double and twin bedrooms are on the first floor with sea and garden views.

For your entertainment, or for those cosy nights in, you will find a selection of board games, CDs and books, as well as a high quality stereo system and flat screen television.





















Our two Dalmatians, Bill and Ben, would like to welcome well behaved doggy friends to Big Barns Cottage. There is a cleaning surcharge of £25 per pet per week and we respectfully ask that animals are not allowed into the bedrooms.

If you decide to bring your furry friend with you, we will include welcome treats for them too! A dog bed is available on request. The catering at the cottage is of course self-catering. All the facilities to self-cater are available at the cottage. If you wish to arrive by train, we can pick you up from Dunrobin Castle. If you wish to arrive by Bus, we can pick you up from Golspie High Street.

Heading North - Having passed through Golspie, you will see a sign saying Dunrobin castle 300 yds. After the sign take the first left turn and go under the railway bridge, heading up into the steading.

When you reach the stone barns, turn right through the farm yard and continue straight on as far as you can. You will pass a property on your right and another on your left. At the T-junction turn left and then follow the track round to the right, passing a stone cottage which will be directly in front of you. Continue on the track for about 1 mile, passing by the farmers fields and through a woodland. After a short distance you will see a memorial stone on your right. Immediately beyond you will see a large stone with Big Barns written on it in gold letters. Turn right at the stone and continue down the track until you reach Big Barns. The first gate you come to, is your private driveway to Big Barns Cottage - just open up and drive right in (closing the gate behind you)!
